Outsiders’ Musings XLV: No picnics!

Well, I’d like to start off by saying this is my 50th post on TopiX, as well as my 45th Outsiders’ Musings (including at Tips), and only a few weeks before the year anniversary of this site. Thank you to all my loyal readers who take a look every weekend.

Also, thanks for the huge reaction to my post about hacks last week. I think we certainly debated it well.

In this edition, I am going to address a few important issues. The first of which is the lack of picnic tables available on Tapped Out.

Yes, we have a few types of benches:

A lawn chair:

Lawn Chair

And you can even get a towel on your bench if you pay 6sidebar_donut:

But there’s nothing quite like a picnic table. Wouldn’t that be good to have? I can just see some people making a nice quiet picnic area next to a car park, with grass and a few trees but having to make do with benches as there are no picnic tables. I was thinking of something that looks a bit like this:

Let’s hope EA are listening, shall we?

And next topic, something I noticed in a comment from 42Hadassah05. There are a lot of Protestant characters in this game, and although there’s nothing wrong with that, a good new character to introduce would be someone like Rabbi Krustofski (Krusty’s father) to redress the balance a little. Or who else do you think could be added to increase the social diversity of Springfield? Do comment.

Finally, a little something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Just for a bit of fun, seeing how fast I can collect all the money off every building in my town (not including Krustyland). I timed myself today using a stopwatch and clocked at 1 minute 54 seconds, that’s with my level 41 town. How fast can you do it?

50th post out.

  1. In my backyard there is a bbq grill by the picnic table. Just sayin’, I think they need to add both to the game

    1. I think he meant in his real-life backyard..who’s ever referred to their Springfield as their backyard?

      1. You are correct. I did not even consider the real world option, too wrapped up in the game. I apologise to Terry. I was rude, not thinking and have removed my comment.

  2. I’d like the benches (and traffic signs) to rotate 360°, i. e. 4 positions instead of the current 2 positions. They do it with fences, so it should not be too hard to do.
(If they have a problem with characters performing tasks on benches, I don’t mind the bench to magically rotate 180° during the task.)

  3. The stonecutter tabel is made out of picnic tables

I also think picnic tables would be great, then perhaps a task to sit at them for the Simpson family. Also parking spaces containing a variety of vehicles would add to the realism.

  5. We need a Monorail !!!!!

That’s a towel hanging on the 6-donut bench? All this time I thought it was a jacket!

    1. Looks like a Jacket to me too but it’s all in the eye of the beholder

    2. I wrote jacket when I was writing this post, then I looked on Simpsonswiki where it is listed as ‘Bench with towel’, so I changed it. Perhaps I use them as an authority on this topic too readily.

      1. In the files, it’s just referred to as a “special bench”. I always thought it was a towel, but looking at it close while zoomed in on my iPad, it definitely looks more like a jacket.

  7. OT, but can someone add me to the people adding page for this please?

      1. Thanks for the links!

I want Janey and Uter, plus spider-pig would be really great too!

  9. It’s a small world… I was redecorating Krustyland for Level 43 and wanted to put a few picnic benches in there just this morning! Particularly in Krustyland, because the majority of the eatery’s are lacking places to actually eat your food – Only the Food Needle, Tavern on the Scream and One Plate Maximum Buffet have seats, but Bumblebee Man’s Tacos, Hotdog Stand and even Krusty Burger don’t have seats- normal benches aren’t the same!
