What Changed with the August 27th Update?

Updated: With a few more items.

Today’s in-game update changed a fair number of things, all relating to the Clash of Clones Event. Here’s what I’ve found:

  • Icon on bottom right was changed from the Castle to Trophy. Tapping it takes you to the Personal Prizes dialog, where you can still access the Castle Summary by tapping the castle icon in the lower right corner.
  • The icon on the Elixir Bundle in the Personal Prizes dialog was changed from the truck of 4000 Elixir to the 3 bottles of 1000 Elixir. The code was awarding 1000 since the start of the event, but the text and the icon implied it was giving 4000. So they changed the text and icon to reflect what it was really giving.
  • Code was added to both the Spuckler kid cash generation mechanism and the Krustyland visitor ticket generation to make the messages clearer.

  • The Barbarian was added to the Regular Characters character group.
  • The Medieval Banners, Hay Cart, Stock, Flaming Torch, and Chicken Coop now appear in the build menu all the time, even if you don’t have enough Elixir. The Hot Air Balloon won’t appear for purchase until you reach 15,000 Gold and the Catapult won’t appear until you reach 30,000 Gold.
  • Castle Walls are now enabled for purchase after the Barbarian Castle is level 4 and the Castle Tower when it is level 6. They required level 10 before.
  • Similarly, to purchase the Cardboard Walls requires Boxingham Palace to be level 4 and the Tower requires it to be level 6 now. Recycled Walls require Castle Recycle to be level 4 and the Tower requires it to be level 6 now.
  • Castle Wall, Castle Tower, Castle Gates, Red Medieval Banner, Hay Cart, and Stock have Chain Placement enabled so they should line up when placing more than one.
  • Dewey Largo, Chester Dupree, and Chester Lampwick will earn at a premium rate for the job Attend The Recital Under Threat Of Death, which is used in the quest The Prince And The Premise Part 11. It doesn’t look like any other premium characters get the premium job earnings for this task.
  • The Prince And The Premise Parts 1-8 now require at least game level 6 to start. Parts 9-10 and Clash of Clones Parts 1-4 require at least game level 7. Parts 11-13 require game level 9. Parts 14-17 and The Power of Upgrades Part 1 require game level 12. The Power Of Upgrades Parts 2-3 and Prince And The Premise Parts 18-23 require game level 15.
  • Payouts on Prince And The Premise Part 21 has changed again, from 2 donuts and 10 XP to 15 donuts and 10 XP. Rewarding those of us who haven’t sped through the quests with donuts.
  • Code was added to hopefully fix the Rolling With It bug where using a cheater d20 to defend your town wouldn’t count for the quest to complete.
  • Completing the Clash of Clones character collection awards $1500 and 30 XP when it used to award $250 and 5 XP.

Some things which haven’t been fixed:

  • Homer still has his 2nd 16-hr task, to “Safely” Do His Job. This should have gone away when the July 4th quests were completed.
  • If you have the Sit ‘N’ Rotate, Selma and Skinner get a 2 hour task to Dine at the Revolving Restaurant, but it is always appearing at the top of their job lists.
  • FIT Milhouse’s tasks don’t scroll to the previous task length. For example, if you assign a character a 4 hour task, then choose Fit Milhouse to assign a task, the top task is his 60 minute one rather than the 4 hour. Minor issue, but sometimes results in assigning him the wrong task.
  • Manjula and Apu’s joint 1-hour task should earn at the premium rate for both characters, since it takes place at a premium location, their apartment. But right now, it earns premium for Manjula, but not for Apu.
  • Squeaky Voice Teen is still appearing in the Decorations build menu.

Let us know if you spot anything else. 🙂

  1. I am not receiving my personal prizes for the clone game event I only have the 2 homers for this event. I am at 9550 in gold and now have reached the hot balloons and I have none of the other prizes. The 15000 is the next prize goal. So what is going on. I was told archer lisa and wizard marge was in my inventory and they are not there at all. I am on level 43 and have reached maximum friend level as well. Please help im getting frustrated.

    1. Archer Lisa arrives when you build Castle Recycle. Have you done that? That becomes available to build after completion of the quest The Prince And The Premise Part 9.

  2. Do you have any information about the ayout changing for defending your houses? Down from 10 gold to 5 gold, is this a bug or an intentional change?

    Like

    1. It is an intentional change. My guess is that collecting elixir/gold went too fast considering the lenght of the event and it was cut in half to slow it down. I am not happy about it.

    1. They cut the payouts in half for defended repairing buildings so 5 or 2 is correct 😦

  4. Not sure is you answered this, but I saw characters like Amatuer Mage and stuff on TSTO News. Are these unlockable characters and is so, how are they unlocked? Thanks

    1. The characters Warrior Of Muffintop, Amateur Mage, Brave Tin Knight, and Rascal Rogue? At the moment, they are just characters/nerds whom we use to attack buildings. It’s certainly possible that EA could give them more abilities in the future, but for now, they’re just NPCs (non-player characters).

  5. Do random people really invade our Springfield or does the game just disguise whoa doing it? I have more notifications that “an invader is raiding” than a friend is raiding.

    Like

    1. I believe random users do invade. I’ve also had more random ones than friends attack my buildings.

      1. I often get that notification in different languages: so far, German, Greek, and French. I assumed that the invader was playing in that country. What do you think?

        1. Yup. I assume it is the language of the Invader 🙂 I think it’s funny!

  6. Ok I thought when I got boxingham palace to level 10 I could buy the extra walls and towers for elixir not donuts. WHAT GIVES!? Is this really how its going to be?

    Like

    1. Extra parts for Recycle and Boxingham are premium. Still we got 18 parts (112 donuts worth) free. Ooops forgot the towers add 6 parts and whatever they cost 🙂

Another thing that stinks. The 3rd to last personal prize you get 1 tower each for the 3 castles. So, if you want to have 4 towers to complete the corners around Bart and Lisa’s castle you’ll have to spend 20 donuts each on a 4 the tower for them.

  7. I let the invaders continue to destroy my brown houses (figure it helps people out) same with pink if I’ve just collected the cash. Have found that if I go into Krusty Land and back the invaders get cleared out, with no Elixir or coins to me and doubt the invader gets there 70 elixir too.

Not true. You earn the same amount of elixir whether they are level 1 or level 13. All it does is advance through the quests…

Yeah I tried to delete that after I wrote it but I don’t see that option anywhere. I didn’t look into the payouts enough before making a fool of myself…

            Like

            1. Not a complete fool. The 60min task increases once and then it holds on 2E. Longer tasks halt at later stages and all caps at lvl 10 (I think) Me and math dont mix so this aspect of the Event is horrible for me and Ive made plenty foolish comments and stupid miscalculations… 🙂

Finally deleted this game. EA have really let themselves down. The stonecutters was a good update but it has been going downhill for the last year. We have given them enough money, you’d think they would produce good content. This latest event is a novel idea but just seems to be another money making exercise for EA with very little return for the customer. After two years, I’m done!

I have Homer at level 10, Lisa at level 7, Bart at level 6, and Marge at level 3 but each one still only get 2 elixir when they do their 60 minute quest; so I don’t see the point of of leveling the skins.

    Like

    1. Howabout the longer tasks? Still no increase? Also the taskbook tells you to keep upgrading them and when the objectives are reached you’ll get rewarded for task completion.

Sure the longer tasks give more elixir and I have all the rewards for completing the tasks but I figured you would get more rewards for leveling the skins ie. a level 10 Homer gains 4 elixir for the 60 minute task instead of 2. Oh well. I was hoping for a fast way of gaining elixir…

        Like

        1. I meant that the longer tasks does/should increase the payout with higher upgrades. I upgraded Homer while he was on task and it increased his payout by 1 for the same task.

“The Medieval Banners, Hay Cart, Stock, Flaming Torch, and Chicken Coop now appear in the build menu all the time, even if you don’t have enough Elixir.”

2 of the banners, the flaming torch and the chicken coop cost donuts not Elixir so were always in the menu anyway. Also any gold prizes that were greyed out in the build menu, i.e. Catapult and hot air balloon, have now been removed from the menu.

    Cheers

  14. I wonder if they are going to fix notification bug that tells me “Ein Eindringling is attacking your town”, or am I the only one that gets the notification in German every once and a while?

    Like

    1. With the new language added to the game, it sometimes messes with the notifications.
“An Invader” is frequently beeing written in the language of the device default setting.
“Ein Eindringling” is translated to “An Invader” so is “En Anfallare”. You might also see it in an other alphabet: Рейдеры 해적 (may not be totally correct)
      I think its funny 🙂

  15. I just got to 9500 Gold after the update, got a popup saying that I had won the 4500 Elixir, then another popup that my nerds collected some 5000 Elixir, After I clicked on that, I had about 6000 Elixir (around 1000 had been left from the previous time I played).

It seems like the update did not fix the bug of the 4500 Elixir not being awarded. 😦

    Like

    1. They reduced the amount to 1,000 elixir or that was how it was suppose to be all along (?) maybe that caused all the glitches.

      1. In the game code, it was awarding 1000 all along, but it was stating it wrong in the text and in the graphic.
