Last Call for Ray Guns!

According to my game we’re just under 7 hours left before the currency of the Treehouse of Horrors 2014 event change for the third and final time and we enter the last half of the event. Our final currency is Long Protein Strings. Although the counter has a specific time, there may be a little extra time as usual before the actual changeover hits but regardless, keep tapping those aliens, dropping those eggs and get all of the Ray Guns you can get in this last bit of time. I will be announcing when the changeover officially hits so stay tuned and good luck!!

  1. I ended up with 7101 Ray Guns at midnight last night. Planned it that way. I opened just enough bags and used just enough ammo to get me to the prize as late as possible. While doing that, I also managed to stockpile 300+ bags, 15+ ammo, and 150+ Grem-aliens for part 3. A huge headstart!

So I get up this morning, start popping bags like crazy and end up with enough fences, eggs, candy bars, candy corn, etc. to build the Rigelian Queen and also get 2 Huts under construction. Now I just have to set the Grem-Aiens free (should be about 1000 proteins strings for all the ones I have stockpiled from earlier and the ones I got this morning from emptying bags).

  2. 1242 strands a day (more or less pre revised chart) – 90 strands from friends leaves 1152 strands to collect. 5 strands per pop. 231 aliens to pop a day. Less if you get some in gift bags or ammo. Egging Springfields will help a little too.

There are 288 aliens available per day. Dont sleep.

  3. I’ve been playing this damn game non stop, I needed 150 Ray guns for the helicopter and fell asleep because it said there was 11 hours left… 6 hours later update & no helicopter. I’m pissed

  4. Protein strings are live now. It’s also unlocked the Queen/Hut in the workshop.

Strangely despite winning the hovercopter it’s also available in the the workshop. I guess it isn’t unique?

  5. Thing I find interesting about most comments in regards to event prizes is that everyone expects to be awarded everything. If everything is easily achievable then the event becomes dull and unchallenging. One of the few strengths of the much maligned Easter event is that there was great prizes and most of us missed out on something. I like the fact I see items I want in others town and hopefully there are items in mine that others have missed. It adds the fun of the game and something to look forward to when items are eventually rereleased

    1. I couldn’t have said it better. The players of this game have the biggest sense of entitlement I have ever seen in any game, actually in any thing I have ever witnessed. Not directing at anyone specific but yes the uniqueness of each persons town is what the game’s all about. But EA doesn’t help at all, every event anymore is 90% old content and 10% new stuff which is very disappointing.

      1. Actually, the sense of entitlement has been indigenous to Simpsons fans well before this game was ever conceived. Comic Book Guy has always been a caricature of the constantly complaining fan. The show is free, the game is free. People need to enjoy it or stop thinking about it. It’s hard to feel any sympathy for anyone who continues to play AND complain about this game that’s been out for over a year on both devices and two on iOS. I appreciate all the hard work you guys do to keep this blog going, it’s tough to create original content about this game and then have people bitch about it instead of offering to help.

    3. I agree (even tho I really wanted that hover-copter and hope to be able to craft it lol).

I always thought it would be cool if they did regional content.
      e.g.
England = the Queen or her stage coach (if they are not allowed to use her image), or Homers half sister.
Australia = The boot or the marine that punches Homer (for “Here in the United States we don’t tolerate that sir!”)
Japan = the game show host or the fish works factory.
Brazil = Homer’s kidnappers or the little boy Lisa was worried about.
      France = Bart’s careers.
US = the alligator they run over or the sheriff (from Miami).
Africa = the witch doctor that quits because a great evil is coming.
      Just to name a few.
and for countries they haven’t visited, there may have been guest stars e.g. New Zealand = Lucy Lawless (who can fly because she’s not really Xena) from one of the THOH shorts – that’s if her image is allowed to be used.

That way everyone’s Springfield will be a little bit different, and for me I would have fun looking at it and thinking what episode is that from, which country are they in.

I think the people running this site are doing a fantastic job. And for some of the people complaining on this page – Well there is an in game timer.

  6. Your chart above is WRONG!
So sad- since I thought I had all of tomorrow to get ray guns still- I would get 7100 on Oct 31. But I have to get them tonight, while it is still Oct 30!
It was a great thought, but you might want to update it for the strands….

    1. Technically the end date is on the 31st…

      1. Specifically the end time is 4 a.m. As a matter of practicality the final day was October 30th.

        1. Only according to the timer. It may not necessarily be exact when the timer reaches zero. Just about every event that has had a timer has never been accurate to the minute so I guess we’ll see. Either way, yes we made an error posting the calendar with what seems to be inaccurate information. However, it is just a guideline, the goal is to get as many ray guns, probes, whatever as possible each day.

The timer is all we have to go on, even if it eventually turns out to be off by whatever amount of time. I happened to be up at 4 a.m. for the last changeover, however, and the timer was accurate. The point of the calendar was to provide a minimum daily goal to meet that would guarantee a player won the final prize. If someone doesn’t have a lot of time to spend on Tapped Out, it would make sense to quit after meeting that goal. Once I put out information people were counting on, I felt a responsibilty to make sure it was as accurate as possible.

            1. Look I was counting on it as accurate when I found it and asked the author if I could post it. Unfortunately I have a life and wasn’t able to verify it like I should have. I made a mistake and am owning up to it. I have apologized multiple times about the calendar and it was made of off dates taken from the game files. You made your point, no need to beat it to death. I’ve been doing this for two year snow, I don’t need to be berated over a mistake. I feel a responsibilty for eveything that comes out of this site and this site and the people that come to it mean everything in the world to me or else I wouldn’t be doing this.

              1. As sson as I get home from work which is where I am 80% of my time, I will make sure to fix the calendar. I sicnerely apologize for any errors the calendar contains or any errors that may come out of this site. But I disagree, the only thing you should have to go on is YOUR OWN GAME. Me and everyone here are just players like all of you and most of our information comes from simply playnig our own games. What we provide is merely a reference even it may contain an error. I truly am sorry to everyone.

I don’t think I was berating you. That wasn’t my intention. I was purposefully clinical in my remarks. I’m sorry that you feel attacked. I actually tried to help your site.

                1. I dont think so either. It is never fun to be critizised, however well meaning it is, the frustration is mostly aimed inwards but with a temper (I have one too) it will show and can be misinterpeted.
I have a responibility too and early on the raygun count was critizised and I couldve made corrections or asked for the calander to be replaced. I still say it is correct, technically – it never stated that it was full days and it does span over 12 days and end on the 31st. Yes, I feel bad for those who followed the calender and wont make it but we all make mistakes (dont see a correct calender as a mistake though).

    2. I created the calendar that infographic was based on. After the start of the ray gun phase I discovered it would only last eleven days. I updated the calendar, and that’s what we’ve been using on Reddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/tappedout/comments/2jv91v/updated_treehouse_of_horror_2014_prize_calendar/ Last week I saw that TSTO Topix hadn’t updated, so I sent an email explaining the situation.

    3. I know the chart is off by a day. It was called to my attention the other day. I apologize. We were not positive when the chagover would happen when this was posted and still not positive it will change over exactly on the minute. That counter has been off in just about every event that had it.

    4. Give the guys (and gals) a break – they’re only doing this to help us and give us an indication of how long it might take – it’s not set in stone an varies depending on your timezone. They take time and go in to the code to give us behind the scenes to help out with this. I’m always amazed at what they do and how quickly they get the info out to us at each stage.

We switched over at 8am this morning in the UK, so hardly any of the 31st to gather. Luckily I hit the final target but only about 20hrs ago. Given that I work and like to get some sleep! EA gave us a tougher target with round two. Even checking in 3-4 times a day. We got 3 probes, only 2 ray guns and this round 5 strands per tap. Work out how much you’re able to collect in a day then you can estimate how long it will take you to get each prize.

  8. The hover-copter is one of the better prizes this year, and I’m going to miss out because I was with out Internet for 3 days (I know I can craft it, but what about the queen and hut).
While I’m enjoying the staging of the prizes, it doesn’t really give much time to make up for lost game play.
Oh well, still enjoying the event 🙂
