Wild West: Complete Premium Guide Act 1

Howdy folk! Hoping you’re all enjoying the Wild West event as we are as it is one of the best events to ever hit the game in my opinion. It is a huge event as far as content, changes, dates, etc. which means tons of topics to cover to best help our readers. Deciding which topic to pick first or next can be challenging, however, one topic I know I can’t go wrong with is donuts and the things that cost them. The decision to buy premium content can be one of the hardest to make while playing this game so I am going to try to help make the decision a little easier for you all. What follows is coverage of every item released with Act 1 that is considered Premium and costs donuts.

Obviously all of the event prizes can be rushed with donuts but we will not consider them full-premium for now as the intended main route to obtain these items are by way of earning event currency.

There are a few items in this article that have not been released as of the date of this posting. Those of you who do not wish to be spoiled please do not continue.

Let’s get started shall we?

unnamed

Act 1 runs from April 19 – May 3 and includes both new and returning content.

Returning Content (Unlocks April 26 – May 3)

Quicksand

It’s not the Wild West without a totally random and seemingly purposely placed patch of quicksand. There are a number of episode appearances of quicksand throughout the shows history and even everyone’s favorite down-on-his-luck Hans Moleman falls victim to quicksand wearing a hat almost exactly like the one in the game item.

Wilted Rose

Many of the items that have been offered in Tapped Out have been totally obscure content that may have appeared in an episode for literally 1/2 a second, i.e. Oscar’s Obstacles truck. The Wilted Rose just may claim the title of Most Obscure Item Ever as this originates from a short dream sequence that Principal Skinner experienced in an episode titled “Yellow Subterfuge” (Season 25, Ep. 7) It appeared on-screen for all of maybe 1 second and includes Skinner’s mother as a multitude of “pleasure providers.”

As Agnes so graciously puts it in the game dialogue for this item, the Wilted Rose is a “brothel for old hags.”

Wild West Film Set w/ Buck McCoy

Buck McCoy is Springfield’s most famously washed up on-screen cowboy and full-blown drunk. At 76 years old his resume includes dozens of old Westerns as well as having the ability to do many tricks with animals and is a highly skilled marksman, when he’s sober that is. His only appearance hails from the episode called “The Lastest Gun in the West” (Season 13, Ep. 12)

Deep Space Homer 2016 – Event Overview

Tapped Out has just gone “where no man has gone before”, deep into space. Sorta. We caught wind of a space-themed update a few weeks ago and teased it here on Topix so while we were not surprised to see it drop, we were happy that it finally came. Although this is considered a mini-event it does come with a decent amount of new goodies so I bring you the Deep Space Homer Event Overview. Follow me after the jump to discover all of the “far out” content that has landed our way.

Cyber Monday 2015: Should I Buy… Kwik-E-Mart Central Office?

Following the most recognized sale/shopping day of the entire year, Black Friday, a tradition that isn’t as old and popular as its predecessor but gains speed every year, Cyber Monday is upon us. While EA’s attention to Cyber Monday doesn’t even compare to the massive Black Friday frenzy we’ve just seen, they at least have not only something to offer, but something NEW to tempt our tattered, beat up pockets.

KwikEMart_Head_Office_2

Along with the sale of 8 previously released items scheduled for today, players will be given a special offer of a brand-spanking new building, Kwik-E-Mart Central Office. It is available for 2 days only so without any delay let’s get cracking and hopefully help you decide to take the deal or pass on it. Follow me.

T.H.O.H. 2015: What Old Items Contribute to This Event and How?

There have been a large number of players asking me here and elsewhere if any items from past Treehouse events were activated to help with this event. What do they mean by this? With annual or recurring events EA has on a limited basis configured items from previous events to aid in the current event. Basically, a Halloween character, building or decoration from 2013 that once collected Goo may have collected probes, ray guns or protein strings during the event in 2014. It’s sort of a nice return investment on limited-time holiday items that are released year after year.

OldItem2015Post

So to answer your many questions regarding this years event, are there any old items that earn one of the 3 currencies we will ultimately see by event end? And which one’s? The answer will certainly surprise you as this years event is like none we have seen before being a super-smorgasbord of not only past THOH events but a number of other events and odd,eclectic-themed updates. Follow me beyond the pines to find out.

Should I Buy…..Beer Stein Wiggum? Premium Guide

Everyone’s favorite down on his luck, jack of all trades Gil Gunderson made a very surprise pre-Halloween visit to our virtual world’s bringing with him an original, min-event with Oktoberfest. I know if most of you are like me the “Oh it’s Halloween!” butterflies fluttered in my stomach when I first saw signs of an update. Not a very big or even unique content-filled update by any means but any chance to obtain fresh, new content is always a plus. The farther along we come the more excited I get to see just how deep into the archives the developers go to pull out new stuff for our Springfield’s.

Gil_Premium_Guide_New

Seeing as how we’ve been lacking on a favored post series lately, I’m here to help you decide on whether to take ol’ Gil up on his offer of the Beer Stein Wiggum skin or let him go dumpster diving yet again for dinner and pass on it. Hopefully by the end of this I will have at least tried to best answer the burning question that comes with any premium purchase, Should I Buy…..Beer Stein Wiggum?

Right this way and quickly! This item won’t be around much longer!

Monorail Building Error – Feedback Wanted

As great as it is to finally have the Monorail cruising through our towns, many of us have had to put our track construction plans on the shelf as we are plagued with the many issues the event has brought with it.
One of the most severe issues many players are facing still almost a week into the event is a glitch that will cause your game to freeze and ultimately shut down triggers when certain buildings in their town which has been dumped with garbage is tapped and also when attempting to dump garbage on certain buildings in neighboring towns. And for myself to the point which the event is nearly unplayable or at least playable if you skip an entire aspect of it, what fun is that?

Monorail Event 2015 for Dummies – Event Guide (Contains Unreleased Content Info)

Finally, after tons of speculation dating back to the game’s early days, the grand Monorail has landed in our world’s. One of the shows most iconic, critically acclaimed episodes has become a virtual realty in the form of Tapped Out’s newest event. The ending result will be a permanently playable Monorail in every Springfield that participates which just that new addition has also brought new massive changes to the mechanics of the game and building options. EA has gone all out for this event and has combined not only the hugely popular episode  Marge vs the Monorail but also a number of other favorited ones such as Trash of the Titans. The Old Man and Lisa and Lisa the Tree Hugger and the end result is a monumental event filled with trash, trains, tree loving vegans and a tripped out hippie.

Dummies_Guide_Monorail

Although most of the needed info to get the event cruising down the rails has already been provided, however you know me, I prefer to write an Overview which emcompasess as much of an update all in one post for a number of reasons but mainly just to give you all a one-stop reference guide should you need it. And without any further ado, let’s get started.

Level 56: Daredevil Bart & Captain Murdoch – Complete Overview

Although I wasn’t really expecting an update so soon after the release of Springfield Heights (which I promise I am going to cover as soon as I figure out where to start), I was more than pleasantly surprised to see Level 56 drop and even MORE so when I saw what the new level brought with it. I can’t speak for any of you but I was born in the late 70’s making me a full-fledged 80’s baby and one of the most iconic real-life stars of that time, for me, wasn’t who you typically think of when, or if, you ever think back to that time. No I’m not talking about Max Headroom, E.T., the entire cast of The Ghostbusters and so on and so forth. Im talking about a legendary, fearless, one-of-a-kind stuntman named Robert Craig “Evel” Knievel.

Evel_Knieval

Evel Knieval was a household name back then and not because of that badass hairdo or outfit, but because this man broke pretty much every bone in his body multiple times while attempting stunts with dirtbikes and motorcycles so insane he actually failed most of the time and people still loved him. I fondly remember having an official Evel Knieval playset at home and would easily recreate his many devastating crashes as they were a hell of a lot easier to do than to actually pretend successful jumps.

I’m sure many of you at this point are wondering what in the world any of this has to do with Tapped Out so I’ll quit reminiscing and make the connection. Cue, Level 56 and Captain Lance Murdoch! All will be revealed after the jump along with the entire Level 56 Overview!

July 4th 2015 – A Final Look: Buyers Guide

Let me begin by apologizing for the very delayed post. I am recovering from being struck by a car a few days ago and was not able to get this out in time. So since we did not get out a proper Overview and there’s still time to purchase the content I’ve decided to combine the Should I Buy….July 4 2015? with the July 4 2015: Full Overview. This way we have a properly documented source of reference as it pertains to the game’s history and you get a detailed guide to assist in any last minute decisions. Forgive some of the wording as I started writing this on the day of the release.

Just as I was about to begin a period of utter dread in anticipation of yet another boring Fourth of July mini-event, chock full of rehashed content and characters, yet again EA threw a curve ball at me, an increasingly more common occurrence thus far in 2015. The July 4 2015 event dropped with little warning, and while it does contain the usual 2-3 rehashed characters and their anchor buildings, it’s the very few new items that make this little tip of the brim towards American independence all worth even talking about.

Even our good ol’ pal Gil Gunderson came to town with his pockets full of snake oil for the holiday with a brand new Gil Deal to make you pay money for an “all-American, patriotic yet insanely scandalous and historically disgraced previously breathing” symbol of American freedom, isn’t he such a swell guy. That Gil.  And he brought along a Tricky Dick that he pulled from a Deep Throat of American history to offer him up to you, as bait, I mean as the newest ex-whatever to fill in the ranks of the Fourth of July character set.

Promo_4th_of_July2015_Overview_Image

To find out what this years celebration of independence has brought to our ever-growing virtual populaces, follow me after the usual complementary yet-ever-so-spoilery image of what we’re going to spoil for you anyway once you do actually “follow me.” Your welcome!

Tap Ball 2015 for Dummies – Instructional Guide

Probably the biggest addition to the latest event is a mini-game called Tap Ball. The new sport with so many rules there literally are none, on the surface, may seem complicated. So much in fact, I’ve actually seen a few people recommending to skip playing it entirely. This is terrible advice, unfortunately. I’ve scoured this event inside and out and unless you are comfortable with NOT progressing through the Personal Prize track and winning any of the great new items, you cannot skip this. Tap Ball must be played to some degree in order to obtain enough Foam Fingers, Hats and Pennants to even scratch the surface of the Prizes. Not only considering the prizes, Tap Ball should be played because, well, it’s actually pretty fun.

To explain the title, no I’m not calling any of you a dummy. I am referring to the hugely popular book series aimed at presenting “an extensive series of instructional/reference books which are intended to present non-intimidating guides for readers new to the various topics covered.” You can find a For Dummies guide on literally any subject and they are pleasantly informative and detailed. Taking a page (pun definitely intended) I present the Tap Ball 2015 Event for Dummies – Topix Edition.
