The show has been renewed by Fox for Season 29 and 30! It will bring the show up to 669 episodes, the highest for any primetime scripted TV show, breaking Gunsmoke‘s 635.

Good news! From this summer you will be able to watch all Simpsons episodes online

A little off-topic here, but wanted to get the news out. According to Flicksided and Slate, Fox’s up and coming online streaming service FOXNow will start releasing all of the episodes of The Simpsons from every season so far in August 2014. I think it will be a great way to quickly check a reference to something or rewatch an episode you liked. It’s certainly annoying that due to licensing issues whole episodes aren’t already available on YouTube, but it looks as if this is going to change.

For those who don’t know FOXNow is pretty much the same concept as Hulu Plus and Netflix, although where those services stream various content from various networks and studios, FOXNow will exclusively stream FOX shows, meaning the latest episodes of shows airing on FOX will be available on the app as soon as they air.

This means that the entire whole back catalogue of The Simpsons all the way back to 1989 including classic episodes, as well as the latest season 25 one, will be up there to enjoy whenever you like.

A minor drawback is that there will still be a commercial break halfway through the episode, but we can live with that. Like I say, it should start this August.

The app can be acquired for iOS, XBox One, Windows 8 desktop and tablet; apps for Android, Xbox 360, Roku and Samsung platforms are set to launch this spring. We’re not sure if this is USA-only (possibly is) or whether it will be free (possibly will) but just had to share the information that you will soon be able to watch the Simpsons legitimately online!
